Guardiola: Manchester City will beware of Napoli
Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will not underestimate the talent and skills of Italian club Napoli on Wednesday morning in the Champions League.
The Serie A representative will meet at The Etihad against City which is currently eyeing a record nine consecutive wins in all competitions.
Sergio Aguero and colleagues have won seven of their opening eight Premier League matches and, on Saturday, beat Stoke 7-2 to have a total of 37 goals in 11 games in all championships this season.
However, this week’s opponents will surely be one of the toughest they have faced so far, as Napoli are currently at the top of the Serie A standings with maximum points from eight games.
And Guardiola insists that his players will be fully focused: “I will show my players on Monday, Tuesday, how well they (Napoli) will play.”
“I will show it, as I showed them Shakhtar Donestsk, how good they are.
“They are very similar to Shakhtar in terms of their game, but the difference is that Shakhtar waits more, while Napoli does not wait, but keeps pressing to kill the opponent.”
“I am very happy to have a chance to have a match like this.”
And Guardiola says that he does not always separate the attacking side and also survive.
He added: “There is a tendency to divide the attacking side and also the defense side, and in football, you can not do that.”
“If you attack well, then you stand well. If you survive well, you will attack well too. ”
“If you have a chance to score goals, you will definitely survive better, as you survive very well, you will score more goals.”
“This is not a coincidence. Everything is interconnected. ”
“Football is dynamic: attacking, defending, attacking, enduring in a row, that’s why we have good stats in that term.”
