Against Watford, Arsenal Lost Defender Tough
Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi certainly missed six weeks. The German player must rest after suffering a thigh muscle injury.
The injury suffered by Mustafi during Germany’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifying match last Sunday. He must be pulled out of the field after holding his right thigh while holding back pain.
“I do not think he will be able to play before the next international break (in November),” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told a news conference on Thursday.
However, Wenger can also be good news about the condition of Laurent Koscielny. Previously, he was not called up for their qualification matches due to an Achilles injury.
Wenger said the defender had been training. And, he is likely to fill the position of Mustafi.
“Koscielny will undergo the final determination test tomorrow,” added Wenger. “Currently he is unplayable but he is training himself and his first signs are positive, so we decided to give him a test tomorrow,” he added.
On the other hand Wenger explained the conditions of other Arsenal players. He said Danny Welbeck, who had suffered a groin injury and midfielder Mesut Ozil (knee injury), had recovered from his injury.
